Perhaps you've said to yourself, when you've seen something that is particularly colorful, or touching, or startling, or humorous: "I'd like to capture this moment!" I have been doing this since I used my first Kodak Baby Brownie at the age of ten, and then on through my years as a naval officer, aluminum worker, banker, and fundraising consultant for charities. Inspired by my father's admiration for a well-composed photograph, encouraged by the enthusiasm of my sculptor spouse and partner, and recently empowered by digital photography, I have discovered new ways of sharing my joy of looking at things in a special way. For example: taking part of a scene and focusing on the patterns I see, as in "Patterns in Strength"; or angles, as in "Sun Triangle"; or light/shadows which refocus the eye, as in "London Still Life" or "Baltic Abstract 1." Whether my photos appear realistic or abstract, they all focus on specific features of light, rhythm or pattern to capture their essence. |
